Privacy
TDXCollab is a TouchDesigner component, and it sends nothing to us. What leaves your machine goes to the people you collaborate with, straight to them or through a relay. This page says exactly what that means, in the same detail the code does.
The component
- No account, no telemetry. There is no analytics, usage reporting or update check inside TouchDesigner. TDXCollab connects only to reach your partners: over TCP in Server and Client mode, or over a WebSocket to a relay in either relay mode.
- What it sends your partners. The changes you make inside the Collab Zone, and the whole zone when someone joins or chooses Sync Zone. With them, what makes the session visible: your Display Name and colour, the network you are looking at and what you have selected; your view's position and zoom, only while a partner uses Sync Pan and Zoom or Show Partner View; and your mouse position over the network editor, only while a partner has Show Partner Cursor on.
- How you are told apart. Each person in a session is identified by their computer's name plus the process id of their TouchDesigner.
- Your settings stay in your project. Connection settings, the room and its secret are saved in your
.toeand go nowhere else. A releasedTDXCollab.toxships with all of them empty.
Direct connections
In Server and Client mode your TouchDesigners connect to each other. Nothing passes through us or anyone else.
The relay
The hosted relay is run by Function Store on Cloudflare, with one room object per session.
- None of your project is stored. Every message is passed on to the others in the room as it arrives and is not kept: operators, parameters, DAT text and whole zones alike.
- What a room keeps. The user id of the person who opened it (computer name and TouchDesigner process id), a SHA-256 hash of the room secret (never the secret itself) and the TDXCollab protocol version. They are deleted 10 minutes after the last person leaves.
- Logs. The relay logs room codes, member counts and errors, never message contents. Cloudflare handles the connections as any CDN does, with its usual short-lived server logs, which include IP addresses.
- Membership. When the hosted relay starts asking for a membership, this page will say what is stored for it before anything is.
A self-hosted relay is the same code on your own machine or Cloudflare account: it keeps the same nothing, and its logs are yours.
This website
The site is static and sets no cookies. It uses Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies and without profiling visitors. If you write to us, we use what you send to answer you and to arrange beta access, and nothing else. Links to Patreon and Instagram take you to sites with policies of their own.
Who else is involved
Only the services that make the above work: Cloudflare (the hosted relay) and Vercel (this website). Nothing is sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking anywhere in TDXCollab.
Asking
To know what is held for you or to have it deleted, write to dan+tdxcollab@functionstore.xyz and it will be handled by hand.
Changes
If what TDXCollab sends or the relay keeps ever changes, this page changes with it. It lives in the same repository as the code.
